UWTV to broadcast Stardust media briefing, launch

UWTV will broadcast Saturday’s scheduled launch of Stardust, a NASA mission to collect comet samples and return them to Earth. University of Washington astronomy professor Donald Brownlee is the principal investigator for the seven-year mission.

The launch is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. PST, and UWTV will begin its broadcast at 12:30 p.m.

In addition, the university’s cable television chanel will air a prelaunch news conference via NASA-TV from Cape Canaveral, Fla. The news conference, which begins at 11 a.m. Friday, will include Brownlee, Stardust project manager Ken Atkins from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and other key members of the project.

In the Seattle area, UWTV is carried on cable channel 27.
