Health Sciences Open House coming April 25 and 26

These activities and much, much more await visitors to the University of Washington Health Sciences Open House April 25 and 26.
The free event offers a hands-on look at the latest in medical advances at one of the leading medical research, training and health care facilities in the world.
“Health Connections ’97” is the theme of the 27th open house. The event will include more than 80 interactive, high-tech and educational exhibits staffed by physicians, nurses, dentists and other medical and educational personnel.
The Open House is designed for children and adults of all ages. Exhibits will demonstrate the use of videoendoscopic surgery, explain how physicians produce images of metabolic activity, and show how a computer simulation program is used in cosmetic surgery. Helpful information on general health care topics will also be available. Vistors can have their diet analyzed, receive an organ donor card, or have a blood sugar (diabetes) screening test.
Exhibits will also help students explore health-related career options through resource and demonstration materials and one-on-one interaction with medical professionals.
Hours for the open house are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, April 25, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday April 26. For more information, call the 24-hour recorded Open House Hotline at (206) 616-9558.
