Nebula Gold systems must be under warranty

Nebula Gold offers a standard desktop, with minimal downtime, often less than two hours. We now provide this service to more than 2500 computers located all over campus, in downtown Seattle, and even out of town. The requirement that computers be under warranty helps make this type of service possible by ensuring speedy replacement or repair of faulty equipment.

Older computers become increasingly subject to intermittent hardware problems and failures. The complex relationship between software problems and hardware issues makes diagnosis of these problems difficult, time-consuming, and costly. Leaving the client to wrestle directly with vendors regarding hardware problems makes it impossible to minimize the downtime. Splitting the responsibility for software and hardware maintenance can complicate, muddy, and delay the solution process. For Nebula Support to provide the best desktop service possible, Nebula Gold PCs must be under warranty.

In the past, the standard has been three-year warranties for computers. However, to assist departments in crafting a timeline for replacing equipment, Nebula has:

"Under Warranty" does not guarantee "Nebula Gold" qualification

Please note that four-year warranties and warranty extensions do NOT guarantee that a particular computer will continue to qualify as a Gold Nebula PC. The computer must meet minimum specifications for Nebula hardware. These specifications can change in response to operating system changes or other requirements; such changes are, however, infrequent.

Other models of Nebula service, such as Bronze and Kiosk, do not have warranty requirements for equipment. We are always happy to discuss with clients the service model that would best suit their needs.
