Nebula software packages
Nebula users may supplement the default Nebula software suite with optional software packages. Some packages are included with every Nebula PC. These are listed below in the table of standard software. Other packages are developed as optional packages to the standard installation.
Once an optional package is made available in Nebula, it can be added to any Nebula Gold PC. In most cases, such additions require the purchase of additional licenses. Please consult with your Nebula support contact for more information about adding software in Nebula.

More Software Information
Standard software packages
The licenses for these software packages are included in the Nebula fee, and are installed automatically on all Nebula Gold systems.
Optional software packages
In response to client requests, Nebula has packaged additional software programs. If you are considering installing additional software, we invite you to send an email to nebula@u to enquire whether the software is already available via our centralized installation method. If it is not available, but will be widely used within your department (10 or more computers), you may submit a request for us to investigate whether that software can be configured to install successfully in this way.
Licensing for optional software packages
The licensing for optional software packages is not included in the Nebula fee, and must be purchased separately from the vendor of your choice. The UWare project (see http://www.washington.edu/uware/) or the UW Bookstore have educational pricing on many software packages.
Nebula does not manage the licensing for you or remove software; those remain your responsibility. Nebula only offers a simple way of installing software. You are not authorized to install any software offered via this method for which you do not have a license.
For more information in requesting software packages, please see the Nebula Software Package Policy.
