Help resources for Outlook with Exchange

Nebula is in the early stages of an effort to support Microsoft email and communications technologies for Nebula-managed desktop computers. This page lists resources that can help you learn to use these tools.

Online Help

A primary tool for getting help with Outlook is to use the online help built into the application. Press F1 or use the Help menu to initiate a search through online help.

Microsoft's Office Online for Outlook 2003 Web environment provides a rich array of online tutorials and guided instruction.

Some examples include:

Outlook Web Access

There is a very capable Web tool for working with your Outlook data called Outlook Web Access (OWA). The address is:

http://owa.washington.edu

OWA allows you to view your folders, manipulate email and calendar information, and access your contacts and tasks.

Note that managing someone else's mailbox is not supported in OWA. However, it is possible to view a read-only version of another user's mailbox if you have permission to do so, using a specially formed URL. After you log in, simply add the username of the user whose mailbox you have the rights to view, then a slash character, then the name of the folder you wish to open.

For example, to view the calendar of user 'smithj', log into OWA and at the end of the URL in the Web browser's address field, type

smithj/calendar

In our environment, the resulting full URL would look like this:

https://owa012.intermedia.net/exchange/smithj/calendar/

Printed tip cards

As part of the initial rollout for these products, Nebula provides printed tip cards for both Outlook and Outlook Web Access. Contact us if you didn't get one and we'll provide it.

There also are a number of printable PDF tips sheets at BNET. These require registration to view:

Instructor-led training classes

There are several classes in using Outlook available through the UW Technology computer training program.
