Microsoft Security Advisories
Windows computers have become ubiquitous, to the point where potential security exploits to Microsoft products are discussed on the evening news and in major newspapers, instead of simply on the technical forums. This has resulted in a much higher profile for these alerts.
Reacting to each potential exploit with temporary fixes is likely to do more harm than good. Our engineers watch the patch progress closely and will even have access to patches early for testing and distribution. We distribute most patches via a central, automatic process, which is why it's important to leave your computer on.
As always, your good computing practices will help keep you safe:
- Don't click on unexpected attachments, even if they are from people you know.
- Don't click on any buttons in an unexpected pop-up box; either click on the X in the upper right corner, or use Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up Task Manager, and use its End Task button to close the box.
If you have questions or concerns about your Nebula computer, send them to nebula@u, or call (206) 221-5000.
