Cory Anderson, Spokane Class 11 Receives 1 of 7 Scholarship Awards from the
Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants
|
I am a second year student at MEDEX Northwest and currently enjoying my rural family practice rotation in Ritzville, WA. My beautiful preganant wife, two daughters and I live in Spokane, WA. Prior to PA school I worked as a paramedic in Vancouver, WA and we lived in a tiny town near Mount St. Helens called Yacolt. My family and I are enjoying our time in Spokane for school, but we look forward to moving back to rural America and serving in family practice. We are very thankful for the AFPPA's scholarship award. Thank You!

After completing the program in May 2011, Grant plans to return home to work in a rural hub health clinic. She will likely have no problem finding work, as physician assistants have been identified as a high-demand job in Alaska. According to the Alaska Physician Supply Task Force, Alaska will need to increase the number of physician assistants in the state by 240 during the next 20 years.
