Anchorage Site Didactic Coordinator Lecturer/Course Coordinator or Chair
& Part-Time Clinical Coordinator Anchorage AK

The MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program at the University of Washington seeks full- and part-time faculty members as we launch our fourth campus location in partnership with the University of Alaska Anchorage. MEDEX is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and has long been an innovative leader in PA education. We train second-career students, whose clinical background and life experiences enrich the learning environment. MEDEX offers opportunities for faculty development, mentorship, and collaboration with colleagues at both the UW and UAA. General faculty duties include teaching, advising students, coordinating/chairing courses or clinical site visits, admissions work, and scholarly activity.

The Anchorage Site Didactic Coordinator (full-time) will be responsible for oversight of the delivery of didactic curriculum at MEDEX Anchorage. Responsibilities include overall coordination of the didactic curriculum at the local site. The site didactic coordinator provides guidance for faculty, staff and students; and manages outreach to community-based clinicians as potential guest lecturers. Other duties include teaching, advising, chairing courses as assigned, inter-site planning and evaluation, and involvement in recruitment and admissions.

Other faculty position(s) will focus on didactic activities, including curriculum delivery and ongoing development of course content in partnership with fellow faculty on-site and at other MEDEX branches. Along with general faculty duties, these positions involve a panel of student advisees, responsibility for coordinating or chairing at least one course, and a role in student assessment. Full- and part-time positions are available.

The part-time clinical coordinator will assist current faculty with management of clinical phase activities. This position involves participation in the assignment of students to clinical training sites, site visits and evaluations, student advising, student evaluation, lecturing as appropriate, and involvement in recruiting and admissions.

Teaching experience, in either a classroom or clinical setting, is required. A bachelor’s degree, current NCCPA certification (or equivalent) and two years of clinical experience are required. Previous teaching experience in a PA program is required for the Anchorage Site Didactic Coordinator position. These are non-tenure track appointments, renewable annually, at the faculty rank of Lecturer. The positions are open now; review of applications will continue until they are filled.
