2009 Incoming Class Statistics
MEDEX Northwest had a total of 564 candidates submit applications for the 2009 didactic year. Of the candidates who applied 15.25% had applied to MEDEX previously. Out of the 564 applications received a total of 173 candidates (30.7%) were invited to interview.
A total of 92 (53.25%) in Seattle, Spokane, Yakima and Anchorage combined are currently enrolled. The entering class of 2009 is widely diverse in terms of regional and cultural background as well as education and health care experience. This diversity becomes a benefit to both the students and the faculty providing a unique opportunity to learn from one another.

While age 30 was the average age of the applicants, the mean age of students accepted was 34. This is usually due to an increase in experience and the ability to meet the clinical hours prerequisite. Due to the MEDEX required clinical experience prerequisite, applicants to MEDEX tend to have a significant number of years in a clinical setting. |

New applicants in the 2008/2009 application cycle totaled 84.75% making the total number of re-applicants to 15.25%. The number of re-applicants accepted makes up 37% of the 2009 accepted class. A slight increase of 1.25% compared to last year. |

MEDEX is a regional program with a history of training students from the WWAMI region as well as rural areas in Oregon, Nevada and, across the United States. The majority of the class accepted in 2009 was from the WWAMI region and Nevada totaling 76%. |

100% of the MCHS classes accepted in either Seattle or Spokane, WA have a prior bachelor's degree or higher. The students accepted in the BCHS class offered in Yakima, WA or Anchorage AK have a wide range of academic backgrounds. International Medical Graduates were accepted into each degree option. |
