2009 BCHS Class Statistics
MEDEX Northwest had a total of 126 candidates submit applications for the 2009 Master of Clinical Health Services Class. Of the candidates who applied 36% had applied to MEDEX previously. Out of the 126 applications received a total of 83 BCHS candidates (66%) were invited to interview.
A total of 44 (52%) in Yakima, WA and Anchorage combined are currently enrolled. The BCHS entering class of 2009 is widely diverse in terms of regional and cultural background as well as education and health care experience. This diversity becomes a benefit to both the students and the faculty providing a unique opportunity to learn from one another

| The number of female applicants was nearly 6% more than male applicants to the BCHS degree option. However, the number of male and female students selected in the BCHS degree option is similar to those accepted to the 2009 MCHS class. |

While age 30 was the average age of the applicants, the mean age of BCHS students accepted was 35.5. |

Re-applicants in the 2008/2009 application cycle totaled 36% with the the total number of re-applicants accepted makes up 43% of the 2009 BCHS class. |

86% of the BCHS class accepted in 2009 was from the WWAMI region and Nevada. Students selected from outside the WWAMI region typically have ties to the reqion through military service, family in the area or, were originally from this region.

The degree status of students accepted in the BCHS class offered in Yakima, WA or Anchorage AK ranged from having a no prior AS or BS degree to Masters level training in another discipline as well as International Medical Graduates.

Military members continued to apply to the Bachelors degree option in 2009. 64% of Military members who applied were interview and 56.75% of military members interviewed were accepted. We value this historical part of the MEDEX applicant pool and will continue to actively recruit, mentor and, train current and former military members.
