Getting Ready

Spokane, WA - PEDS 674P

Getting Ready for your Spokane Elective Rotation

The Pediatric WWAMI Medical Student Program will contact you via email approximately 5-6 weeks prior to the start of your elective. There are things you need to do so that you ensure that you will start your rotation on time.

Contact Trudy Furberry at A-300 to confirm that a “Letter of Good Standing” has been sent to your site.

For your Spokane rotation, you will need to read and follow the instructions regarding the following UW drug testing policy, so that you will be able to participate in your rotation. Drug Testing Policy for some Spokane Clinical Training sites.

Prior to your arrival

Priority: You should have been contacted by Janie Ford regarding drug screening that is required by your site. If you have not been contacted by her, please contact her immediately or you may not start your rotation on time, possibly requiring a drop from the rotation.

You will need to contact Melissa at the clinic 509-474-3810 to determine your start time and place. You may contact Judith Martin, MD by e-mail at judithmartin@providence.org.

Your schedule will be seeing patients with Dr. Martin in clinic Monday through Thursday. The student will also be expected to see prenatal patients and hereditary cancer families with the counselors and they see patients Monday through Friday. Office hours are 8 AM - 5PM. We travel to Tri-Cities and Moses Lake periodically to do outreach clinics and the students will be accompanying us to these clinics. The student will be expected to review the charts and read up on the conditions. A great source of information is genetests.org.
