By specific arrangement for qualified students, special clerkships or ‘away clerkships’ may be available at institutions other than the University of Washington located within the WWAMI region. By Pediatric Department permission only.

Students will be expected to manage patients with the supervision of a Pediatric Emergency Medicine attending or fellow. Students will have the opportunity to manage patients with a wide spectrum of disease processes as well as learn key emergency medicine procedural skills. By Pediatric Department permission only.

Students will spend most of their time in the Heart Center. Students will participate in the outpatient evaluation of new and returning patients. Students will also be exposed to echocardiography, cardiac catheterization and will be responsible for following surgical patients (from pre-operative evaluation, observe the surgical procedure and post-operative critical care rounds). Students have the opportunity to observe and function in the private practice setting, accompany pediatricians as they pursue their daily activities in the community. By Pediatric Department permission only.

Clinical focus on evaluation and management of children with genetic disorders. Exposure to genetic counseling, the evaluation of children with hereditary structural defects and diagnosis and management of children with inborn errors of metabolism. Emphasis on genetic mechanisms that cause human disease. By Pediatric Department permission only.
Students will have an inpatient and outpatient experience with responsibilities comparable to intern for patient workup, diagnosis and care. By Pediatric Department permission only.

Students will have the opportunity to manage patients with a wide spectrum of disease processes as well as learn key cardiology medicine procedural skills. By Pediatric Department permission only.

Student will see gastroenterology problems, participate in inpatient gastroenterology consultations, outpatient clinic evaluations for new and follow-up patients, and (observe) endoscopic and therapeutic procedures. By Pediatric Department permission only.

Student will be in an outpatient clinic setting and will see and work up clinical consultations and present to attending physician. Daily rounds will include problem-solving discussions and didactic presentation in broad category of infectious diseases. By Pediatric Department permission only.
