Career Advising

We are dedicated to providing career advising support to all students at the University of Washington who are interested in a career in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine-Pediatrics. Please make sure you talk to your site director or pediatric preceptor for lots of advice about what it is like to be a pediatrician. If you are a 3rd year student and have questions about scheduling electives or questions related to applying to residencies, please contact either Sherilyn Smith or Curt Bennett and they will be happy to help you. In the 4th year you will be assigned a specific career advisor to help you through the application process. This typically happens in April or May (after the Match occurs for the preceding class). These career advisors are all College Mentors as well, so you can ask them questions anytime if you know them!

We know that this can be a stressful time, but we have tried to answer as many questions in advance as we can. Click here to find answers to frequently asked questions, a list of career advisors and a detailed timeline for applying to residencies.
