Introduction:
Everett is the county seat of and the largest city in Snohomish County, Washington. The city had a total population of 103,019 at the 2010 census, making it the 7th largest in the state and fifth-largest in the Puget Sound area. Everett has a thriving medical community that has been highlighted during this time of health care reform as a forward-thinking collaborative place to work. Just 25 miles north of Seattle, it is an easy commute. Students spend three weeks learning inpatient pediatrics at Providence Medical Regional Center in Everett, working alongside Pediatric Hospitalists from Seattle Children’s. Students will rotate on the pediatric inpatient unit, will assist with consults in the emergency department and will rotate occasionally in the newborn nursery. Then three weeks of outpatient pediatrics at the award-winning Everett Clinic, where students will see a wide variety of patient concerns, and have the opportunity to observe different practice styles of community pediatricians.
