Care of hospitalized children as well as the care of newborns will occur in the Providence Alaska Medical Center - Children’s Hospital at Providence. The pediatric floor has 32 beds, with 9 beds in the intensive care unit. A wide variety of pediatric subspecialists also consult at the hospital. Students will work side by side while inpatient with Family Practice residents. Clinics are based out of The Children's Hospital at Providence, Anchorage Neighborhood Health Clinic and a variety of primary pediatric offices.

Rotation Description

The student will experience both inpatient and outpatient care of pediatric patients and the rotation is split into two weeks of inpatient and four weeks of outpatient. The outpatient time is spent with a variety of both general pediatric as well as subspecialty experiences while the inpatient time has both floor as well as PICU experiences.
