top I. IMPORTANT DATES

March 15th, 4:00-7:00pm: Residents, Faculty and their families are invited to attend the Residency Winter Party at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge (on the 2nd floor of Lincoln Square) 700 Bellevue Way, Bellevue.  The Luxe Lounge and a total of 8 lanes have been reserved for unlimited bowling, including shoe rental.  A menu of gourmet pizza, burgers, soft drinks and more will be served.  Email Scott.Olson@seattlechildrens.org no later than March 11th to RSVP.

April 15, 2009, 7:30-9:00am: Professors and Associate Professors Meeting to discuss second term assistant professor reappointments. Wright Auditorium. Contact Diane.Wade@seattlechildrens.org with questions.  

April 22, 2009: Fellows Research Day, Bldg 1, SCRI.  George Lister, MD, Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatrics, University of Texas, Southwestern, will be the keynote speaker. Come support our fellows and hear the interesting research going on around Children's!

Dr. Hans Ochs received the 2009 Clinical Immunology Society President’s Award, to be presented June 10 in San Francisco at the CIS Annual Business Meeting.

Luke Hoffman, MD, PhD was awarded a Small Pilot Award from the Institute of Translational Health Sciences for 2009, entitled "Community-level physiologic profiling: A novel method to characterize polymicrobial infectious diseases and to identify new therapeutic strategies."

Margaret Rosenfeld, MD, MPH received an Institute of Translational Health Sciences (ITHS) pilot award, “Parent Report of Signs of a Respiratory Exacerbation in Infants and Young Children with Cystic Fibrosis: A Feasibility Study.”

Yosuke Miyashita, MD, Pediatric Nephrology, received a UWHA grant for 2009-2010:  Pediatric severe hypertension.  Dr. Miyashita will use data from Seattle Children's Hospital to complete a retrospective evaluation of the second-generation calcium channel blocker israpadine used in severe hypertension in a pediatric hospitalized population to determine efficacy and risks.
