Message from the Chair
As all of us are aware, financial reserves and availability to cash are currently challenged. This is true for the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s despite their strong financial position. Our Department is not immune to these economic forces. We are asking our leaders and you, the faculty, to be thoughtful in your travel, discretionary expenses, and recruiting costs. You will soon receive cost containment policies from Seattle Children’s, and possibly the UW. One policy to take effect quickly will eliminate catering for day time events and meetings. We ask that our Divisions respect this new policy and that you understand the exigencies requiring economic “belt tightening”. Thank you for your support and commitment to our missions.
