December 14, 2005, 8:15AM-1:00PM: Launching a Successful Academic Career. the Department of Pediatrics will be offering its first annual half - day workshop entitled, "Launching a Successful Academic Career," geared towards senior (2nd and 3rd year) fellows, acting instructors and acting assistant professors. The workshop will take place from 8 am to 1 pm at the Center for Urban Horticulture. Please contact Brooke Freed (brooke.freed@seattlechildrens.org) to RSVP and for more information.

FY2005 Family Experience Survey Award for Teamwork - Rheumatology Clinic (led by Patty Hovik, Arlene Libby and Helen Emery, MD)

Irv Emanuel, MD was invited to deliver the keynote address at the 2006 meetings of the Society for Pediatric and Perinatal Epidemiologic Research.

Carol Wallace was recently asked to be a Special Consultant for a grant review panel for the National Eye Institute.

Maida Chen, MD, MPH, Pulmonary, received a QI Research Grant for "Predictive Values of Pre-polysomnography Questionnaires"

Debra Friedman, MD, received notice of funding of one of only four Lance Armstrong Foundation Cancer Survivorship Centers in the U.S. This Center in the SCCA will serve as a clinical and research resource for the entire Northwest.
