I. IMPORTANT DATES

January 19, 2011: Promotion preparation meeting. 5-6 PM, G1026 at Seattle Children’s. The Department of Pediatrics Promotions Committee requires that faculty members who will be considered in the summer/fall of 2011 for promotion to Associate Professor or Professor attend one of these seminars. If you are being considered in 2011 (to be effective July 1, 2012), you, your Division Head and your Division Head’s assistant MUST attend one of these meetings even if you attended one last year (note you do not all need to attend on the same date). For more information or to RSVP your attendance at one of these meetings, contact Diane Wade (dmw@uw.edu or 206.987.1713).

January 27, 2011: CUMG Annual Membership Meeting. 5:30-7:30PM in Sound Café at Seattle Children’s. Questions? Contact Ida.Motoshige@seattlechildrens.org

January 31, 2011: Dean Ramsey’s Annual Address to the UW Medicine community. 4:30PM at UW Hogness Auditorium.

II. FACULTY NEWS

Drs. Dan Doherty and Heather Mefford, have been elected to the Society of Pediatric Research (SPR).

Jerry Zimmerman, MD, PhD, has been elected to the Pediatrics Designated Seat on the SCCM Council for a three-year term. His term and official duties begin on January 19, 2011.

John (Jeff) McLaughlin, MD, was awarded the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine Mentorship Award.

Dr. Danette Glassy was appointed to the National Advisory Committee on Head Start Research and Evaluation. This appointment is for 4 years.

Tom Brogan, MD has been elected to be a member of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Steering Committee.

Dr. Brogan has also been elected to be a member of American Academy of Pediatrics PREP ICU Self-Assessment Advisory Board.
