Postdoctoral Fellowships

The research labs at the Department of Radiation Oncology provide a postdoctoral training program in a variety of disciplines. The fellows take part of an intense research program and pursue scientific research and technological developments to address problems in diverse fields including and Molecular Biology (Tony Krumm).

Current research programs include:
Molecular mechanisms involved in the transcriptional deregulation of the c-myc oncogene in Burkitt Lymphoma. This project investigates the principles of transcriptional regulation in the context of human disease and takes advantage of both cellular and biochemical strategies including mass spectrometry. These studies are in collaboration with research groups at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Institute for Systems Biology.

Senior Fellowships (Postdoctoral Fellowship)

Senior Fellows within the Radiochemistry Division are primarily involved in development of new Radiopharmaceuticals to be used in the therapy of cancer. Depending on the research undertaken, Senior Fellows may gain practical experience in synthetic Organic Chemistry by preparing molecules for carrying radionuclides or for modifying biomolecules to impart desired characteristics for in vivo applications. Another part of the educational experience is learning about radiochemicals and applying the knowledge to prepare and purify radiolabeled biomolecules. Once prepared, Senior Fellows will conduct, or participate in, the assessment of the radiolabeled molecule's stability, receptor binding, and in vivo biodistribution.

Postdoctoral (Senior) Fellowship Opportunities

The Postdoctoral Fellowships involve research related to Targeted Radiotherapy of Cancer. The positions often involve synthetic organic chemistry in the preparation of new radionuclide bonding reagents or reagents used to modify radionuclide targeting biochemicals. Development of radiochemical labeling methods is generally part of the research effort. Postdoctoral Fellows prepare reagents to be evaluated in studies conducted in collaboration with a number of other research groups. For further information on availability and requirements contact D. Scott Wilbur.
