HTML5, jQuery and an interactive survey: January 2014 Web Council

Important: The first Web Council of 2014 will be on a Wednesday this month. We are keeping our usual time and location.

What will the Seattle campus look like in the future? Learn about a landscape survey the will help shape the next 20 years.

When: Wednesday, January 22nd, 9-10:30 a.m.
Where: Odegaard 220
Who: UW employees who work with the Web, whether developers or content creators

My Places landscape survey

To help guide the development and stewardship the Seattle campus over the next 20 years, the Office of Planning & Budgeting has released an interactive landscape survey integrated with Google Maps. Creative consultant Stephanie Krimmel will share how she created the survey.

Closed captioning vendor

Automatic Sync Technologies is now a UW-preferred video captioning vendor, making it easier and more cost-effective for all campus units to provide captioned and transcribed videos. Harry Hayward from University Marketing & Communications will discuss prices and services.

A monthly snapshot from the mobile world.

Modern front-end development

In response to multiple requests for a Web Counil presentation dedicated to HTML5/jQuery, Dane Odekirk will demo how the Web Team utilizes modern Web tools in WordPress. Look forward to learning all about jQuery, Backbone.js libraries for Javascript, less.js for CSS, plus Node.js.
