Saving a File
PLEASE NOTE: Online Software Access has been superseded by ViDA. Some of this information may be out of date.
Saving a file is unique to each application but most follow the basic method outlined below.
To save a file, follow these steps:
- With the application open that you want to save from, click File and select Save. The "Save File" dialog box will open. The default save location
will be in the documents folder on your local computer.
- Browse to the preferred folder on your computer, then click Save. Be careful when selecting a folder that you do not navigate outside your local hard drive. If you save your work in a network folder, it will be permanently deleted when you log off. Avoid saving anywhere where you see the file labeled "DO NOT SAVE HERE" or you may lose your work.
Unless you have the application installed on your computer, the saved file will appear to be unassociated with any application. To open or print the file, you must re-log on to OSA and open the file within the application. To create a file that can be printed without being logged on, save the document as a PDF by following the steps below.
Save as PDF
- Click File and select Save As, then select Adobe PDF.
- Click Save.
- If Adobe PDF is not an option under Save As, you can create a PDF by using the print command. Click File and select Print. A print dialog box will open.
- Click the down arrow under "Printer Name" and select Adobe PDF. Click OK. A PDF will be created from the open document that you can then save, share or print a hard copy from.
