Group Manager Usability Changes

You may have noticed that the group chooser, or how you select groups for Catalyst Tools access and permissions, was redesigned in response to user feedback. Some of the highlights include:

  • Making it easier for users to browse and create groups
  • Simplifying the group-selection process all within one window
  • Allowing users to focus on relevant class lists by filtering by quarter

These improvements, and all Catalyst Web Tool development, were informed through user feedback from our support channels. When issues are found, they are escalated through a process to the User Experience (UX) team for consideration. Based on data about general campus needs, the UX team then prioritizes issues. So, if you are having trouble with a particular tool or don’t think that your specific need is being supported, let us know by writing to us at lsthelp@uw.edu.

After we discovered problems with the new group chooser and created new designs to try to address them, those designs were tested with CUE members prior to release. The resulting data and feedback was used to refine the design and to ensure that it addressed known problems. Thanks to everyone who participated in these studies.
