Flowchart of the Series

Help Center Web Publishing At the UW Flowchart of the Series

Unlike many of the other workshop series, the Web Publishing series builds on itself to a considerable degree. That is, there are some workshops which would make little sense to be taken before others. It would be hard to put a toll booth up before the bridge.

There is no “requirement”, per se, that the Web Publishing workshops be completed in any order, but the reality is that we do not and cannot review HTML for every workshop that requires HTML, etc.

If you are looking to make sure you are taking the Web Publishing workshops “in-sequence,” then you might consider the following “prerequisites” flowchart:

Each arrow pointing to a workshop represents a workshop that should be taken prior to that workshop. Note that some workshops require workshops which require workshops of their own.

For example, to take HTML, you should take all the things pointing to it (Web Publishing Intro being the only one). To take JavaScript, you should take all the things pointing to that—-CSS and Programming—-but before you take CSS, you should take HTML, and before you take HTML or Programming, you should take Web Publishing Intro.

(This is an example of an acyclic dependency graph where nodes—Workshops—are dependent on other nodes and where all paths to the node must be followed before reaching the node.)

Again, we reiterate that we in no way require prior attendance: it is simply a recommendation.
