Placing the Titles
We are now ready to add our titles. Import the file Titles.ai. Since we want access to the individual layers, we will need to import it as a composition.
Double click on the Titles.ai in the project window. Change its background color to white. Select the Titles.ai tab on the timeline and copy the layers Atomic and Café. Select the Ninja Film tab and paste the layers Atomic and Café in the top.
We will now want to animate this layers. Lets start with scale. Since this project is getting rather cuttered, lets hide the ninjasymbols and café layers by clicking on the picture of the eye on their respective layers.
Select the Atomic layer and hit S to twirl down the scale keyframe. Move the playback head to 5;25 and click on the scale stopwatch. Drag the scale down to 15%. Since we wont need this image until this time, set this layers in point now as well ]. Hit the 6 key on your keyboard and scale up to 70% (this is where the big hit sound is). To provide further interest, hit the 7 key and scale up to 100%. The image will continue to drift allowing viewers to read the word. This would be a good time to apply the Easy Ease in to the 3rd keyframe, giving the image a gradual slowdown.
Now, lets view the composition with ninjasymbols added back in. Unhide that layer by selecting the eye again.
Since the Atomic layer starts its scale at 15%, it just sort of appears in the composition. We will want to change that so it fades in. At 5;25 on the Atomic layer, twirl down the opacity layer. Start the opacity stopwatch and drag its value down to 0%. Jump to the 6 second marker and adjust the opacity to 100%. We have now smoothed its appearance.
The ninjasymbols is too prominent in the background after the words appear. Lets fade those down. Twirl down the opacity keyframe for ninjasymbols. At 5;25 start the keyframe stopwatch. Jump to 6;10 and drag the opacity for this layer down to 0%. Preview these changes by rending to RAM.
Now we should animate the café layer. Start by unhiding the layer. Set your RAM workspace area to the entire comp by jumping to the end and hitting N. Jump to the time marker at 7 seconds and select the café layer. This clip will start here so set its in point now.
Twirl down the scale property. Drag its value down to 0%. Jump to 7;15 and twirl it up to 90%. Still at 7;15, twirl down the opacity keyframe and set the stopwatch, it should read 100%. Jump back to 7 seconds and drag its opacity to 0%.
Preview the project and save.
