Placing the Video
Next we will apply the background images. Start by importing Retrocities.mov. After importing it, click on the file in the project window. You will notice that this clip is only 7;06 long, too short for our current composition. However, we can easily loop this clip by selecting Retrocities.mov and opening File > Interpret Footage > Main and set the looping parameter to 2.
Set the playhead back to 00;00 and drop the Retrocities.mov to the bottom layer on the timeline. Hit 0 on the number pad to render this to RAM. It looks good but lets make it more interesting.
Import the file SoapFilm.mov and drop it on the layer above Retrocities.mov. We want the Retrocities layer to shine through the SoapFilm layer and this can be accomplished by playing with modes.

If the modes menu isnt already visible, hit the F4 key. Set the mode for SoapFilm to Overlay and twirl the opacity of that layer down to 50%. The SoapFilm layer isnt as strong as we would like so lets add another layer by duplicating it. Select the SoapFilm layer and hit D. Set this layers mode to Color. RAM preview this new change.
Now that the background is the way we like it, lets group them together by first selecting them and then going to Layer > Pre-compose. Lets give it the name Background Layer and unselect Open New Composition.
