Composition from a File

We will now create another composition that will be the home for the bulk of our content. Start by finding the music.wav file and dragging it to the Create a new Composition button (New Composition Button). This will make a new composition from that music file that matches the music files duration. We will also need to change the background color of this composition, Composition > Background Color. You should also change the compositions name to something more desciptive of its purpose, like Content.

You will note there are now 3 independent compositions in the project. In the Content composition, select the music.wav track and hit the L key twice. This should twist down the waveform view of the music. You will not be able to hear the music until you have rendered it to RAM. Set the RAM workspace to the entire clip by hitting Home, then B, and End then N. The B and N keys set the area for the RAM to render. Hitting the 0 key on your keypad will render the workspace to RAM and begin looping. As you listen to the music, you will notice that there is a big hit at about 6 seconds. We will use that sound for extra emphasis in our movie. Since we will be jumping to this point often, we should place a time marker there. Drag the playback head to 06;00 and hit Shift+6.
