Edit a Recording
You can modify recordings by using the Tegrity Class Editor. The editor allows you to make simple changes such as changing the instructor photo or removing content.
- Navigate to the class recording you want to edit.
- Check the box next to recording you want to edit.
- From the "Choose an Action..." menu (located in the bottom left corner), select Edit. You will be redirected to the Tegrity Class Editor. You access all the editor features (described below) through the "Actions" menu located in the bottom left corner.
Note: Tegrity Class Editor works best in Windows using Internet Explorer. Changes to recordings, such as cutting content and importing video, are often not viewable unless you completely log out of Tegrity, clear your browser cache and cookies, and quit your browser. Tegrity often requires processing time after these changes before any additional edits can be made.
Use the cut feature to remove content from a recording. It's a good idea to create a copy of the recording before editing in case a mistake is made. When you select "Cut" two boxes, with the buttons "From," "To," and "Apply," will appear. In these boxes you enter the start and end time of the section you want to remove. You can enter the times in two ways: (1) directly in the format of 00:00:00 (hours:minutes:seconds) or, (2) pause the recording at the position you want and click the button From for the start time, or To for the end time. After adding start and end times, click Apply.
Add Closed Captioning
Add closed captions (CC) if you want to provide the option for users to read text narration. You can add captions in two ways: 1) Create a closed caption file; 2) For a fee, you can request the captions to be automated. See the article Add Closed Captions to a Recording for details.
This feature allows you to: (1) edit the chapter/thumbnail title, and (2) add searchable keywords. When you select Edit Chapter, a list of chapters appears. By default, Tegrity generates chapter titles by using text from slides, web addresses, etc., but you can edit these. Click the chapter you want to change and click Edit. Enter a new chapter title in the New Title box.
Add searchable keywords to the Keyword box. These are keywords that a viewer would search for within the recording.
Import Video Clip
The Tegrity editor allows you to insert a video clip into a lecture. The clip can either be another Tegrity recording clip or a video recorded outside of Tegrity. Video files must be in .asf format.
Add Searchable Keyword
In contrast to the keyword function in the Edit Chapter feature, the keywords you add here will allow viewers to search across Tegrity videos rather than within them. For example, if you add "puppies" to your lecture, and the viewer searches in "My Tegrity" for "puppies," the lecture to which you added "puppies" will be located.
Change Instructor Picture
You can replace the current instructor image or video with a new picture. The optimal size of the instructor image to display in the "instructor" window is 320 X 240 pixels. Images that are not close to the optimal size will be stretched or shrunk during playback. High resolution photos (for example 10 MB) are discouraged as they will cause longer loading times for users. The instructor image can be in any of these formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP.
