SimpleSite Help Center
Catalyst SimpleSite has been phased out as of June 16, 2010.
Although the SimpleSite tool is no longer available, all the pages and supporting files in your Web site remain in your account unchanged, and are editable using other Web-authoring software.
What you can do
The functionality of SimpleSite can be met by newer Catalyst tools, other services supported by UW-IT, and readily available Web-authoring software. Please view the SimpleSite transition guide to see our recommendations for tools or software to best meet your specific goal or purpose.
UW-IT recommends one or more of the following three solutions as a replacement for SimpleSite:
Catalyst CommonView
CommonView is a simple, Web-based tool for creating a set of Web pages to provide information, and to organize files, links, and other resources. Without knowing any HTML, you can quickly and easily create a Web site or workspace for your class or project. Because it is one of the Catalyst Tools, support and training for CommonView is available locally through UW-IT.
For step-by-step help migrating from SimpleSite to CommonView, please see the Simplesite to CommonView migration guide.
Google Sites
Google Sites is an easy-to-use, Web-based tool for creating Web sites. Google Sites provides many design templates, and flexible layouts for each page. Google Sites is part of the UW Google Apps. Google’s online help is excellent, but limited support is available locally.
Adobe Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver is a robust and powerful Web design and authoring program. Though it has a WYSIWYG view for editing pages, it does require greater knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Web site architecture, as well as graphic design, to successfully build a Web site. You can use Adobe Dreamweaver to edit all the existing pages and supporting files that you created using SimpleSite.
