Introduction

The goal of this workshop is to enable you to establish and maintain a good security routine for your computer. We will cover the following topics for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Macintosh OSX systems: securing your operating system, using anti-virus protection, and preventing Adware and Spyware.

This advice is designed to help you keep your computer up to the standards required of the UW network. However, the advice is a good basis for all computers that make frequent use of the Internet, and should be useful whether you are part of the UW network or not.
