Jumpstart is currently recruiting Summer 2017 Interns as well as Corps Member positions for the 2017-2018 academic year.Corps member with child

Jumpstart is an early literacy program that connects college students as tutors and mentors with 3- to 5-year old preschool children from low-income communities.

Summer 2017 Interns

In addition to serving young children this summer, you will have a fun and challenging experience that offers opportunities to develop a variety of new skills.  The purpose of Jumpstart Summer is to meet the needs of young children by providing early childhood program partners with enthusiastic and well-trained adults to serve in their classrooms. This purpose is achieved through Jumpstart Corps members lowering adult-child ratios and providing more individual attention to the children, focusing on language and literacy and implementing Jumpstart’s proven curriculum to help close the achievement gap. In this way, Jumpstart Summer continues and extends Jumpstart’s efforts to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed

Corps Members (during the academic year)

As a Corps member, you will work with a small group of children for the entire academic year. Corps members focus on improving the skills of children that are necessary for future success. Corps members work on teams of their UW peers and are supported by a Team Leader. Corps members will read stories, sing songs and play games that support young children’s school readiness skills. Positions are typically open through the fall quarter.
