Access Control Methods
There are several different ways to control access to your Web pages:
Password Protection by
UW NetID
Control access to your Web pages by UW NetIDs.
Basic Password
Protection
Control access to your Web pages using a single name and
password that you create, distribute, and maintain.
Basic Group
Password Protection
Control access to your Web pages by defining and
maintaining a separate group of names and passwords, all
of your own choosing.
Controlling Access by
Internet Address
Specify which computers can or cannot access your Web
pages.
Encrypted (SSL) Connections
Encrypted connections help protect information in transit over the Internet. They do not help you control who can access your Web pages as much as how. If you are controlling access to your pages, you can use SSL to make passwords and other information more difficult for others to steal.
