TEM provides two pre-defined profiles, UW Standard Power Profile and UW No-Sleep Power Profile. The initial settings for each are defined as:

Changing TEM Power Settings

Note: This requires administrative privileges on your workstation.

MS Windows Computers:

  1. Open the "Control Panel"
  2. Select "Power Options" (in Windows 7, you may first have to select "Hardware and Sound")
  3. Adjust settings, as preferred
    Please note: These settings cannot be changed via a Remote Desktop session, but only with the local keyboard.

Macintosh computers: OS X 10.4 - 10.7:

  1. Open "System Preferences"
  2. Select "Energy Saver"
  3. Adjust settings, as preferred

Using Remote Desktop to Connect to Computers Running TEM

Dell Computers

Note: You may need to send the RDP request 2-3 times on older Dell computers before they respond.

HP Computers

You may need to adjust the Network Interface Card (NIC) settings:

  1. Go into Device Manager (click Start button, right-click Computer, select Manage, select Device Manager).
  2. Expand Network Adapters, right click on LAN Network adapter (Example: Intel 87654X Gigabit Network Connection) and select Properties.
  3. On the Advanced tab, scroll down to find Wake on Link Settings and change it from disabled to forced.
  4. On the Power Management tab, uncheck only allow a magic packet to wake computer.
  5. Click OK and close Computer Management window (click X in upper right corner).
