Power and Patch Management in Nebula

Reducing Power Usage and Keeping Current on Security Patches
Tivoli Endpoint Manager (TEM) software will keep your Nebula system's patches updated and reduce power usage for the UW. Opt into either or both with the instructions below. You can also opt out again. Additional information provided includes the patch strategy, the program list of patched programs, and the benefits to the UW.
- Power management: opting in

- Click on system tray icon:
- Click on Offers tab.
- Click on Opt-in to UW Power Management.
- Scroll to bottom of the explanatory text and click on the Here link.
- Still on the Offers tab: a choice of power management profiles will be displayed.
These profiles may appear quickly, or they may take anywhere from a few
hours to overnight to display. Click on the profile you prefer:
- Standard: monitor sleeps after 15 mins; hard drive after 2 hours.
- No Sleep: monitor sleeps after 15 mins; hard drive always on.
- Close the window.

- Scroll to bottom of the explanatory text and click on the Here link.

- Click on Offers tab.
- Click on Opt-out of UW Patch Management.
- Scroll to bottom of the explanatory text and click on the Here link.

Changes made to the Profiles offered by TEM will not be saved so if you want to make changes, you need to select a non-TEM power plan.

- Use Control Panel to go into your Power Management options.
- Choose one of the other options listed, either under Preferred Plans or Additional Plans.
- If desired, you can fine tune the chosen plan by clicking on Change plan settings.
