Work From Home With Access To The UW Phone System
UW Telecommuter VoIP Phones allow UW faculty and staff to connect to the UW phone system from home. Through secure VPN technology these phones provide the user with the same experience as a UW phone on campus. Telecommuter VoIP phones provide staff and faculty the ability to work from home during inclement weather, natural disasters, or medical emergencies as long as broadband internet access is available from the customer's residence. Normal telecommuting is also made easier and more convenient with quick access to all UW phone features including:
- UW Long Distance & RCS
- Voice Mail
- 5-Digit Dialing
- Conference
- Transfer
- Call Logging
Call center access is also available allowing agents to meet the needs of their customers without having to commute to the office.

One-time Setup Fee $137
Monthly Recurring Charge
Phone Lease
4610 VoIP Phone $4.12/month
or
4620 VoIP Phone $4.48/month (primarily for Call Center Agents)
NOTE: If telecommuting from outside of Western Washington, the VoIP Phone must be purchased. See Global VoIP for rates.

Telecommuter Requirements
- Broadband Internet Access From Home (DSL/Cable/FiOS/Clear)
- Available Ethernet outlet within 15 feet of the VoIP Phone.
- Available surge-protected power outlet.
- DHCP or an available Static IP address to be assigned to the VoIP Phone.
- Home Router capable of passing IPSec VPN traffic (common for most routers).
Customer Installation Instructions
Once you have ordered your UW Telecommuter VoIP service, UW IT will process the order and configure the phone for your use. The equipment will be delivered to your campus office. Shipping costs will be applied to equipment delivered to an off-site location.

Global VoIP
Take a UW Phone With You Anywhere In The World
UW Global VoIP Phones allow UW faculty and staff to connect to the UW phone system from anywhere in the world. Through secure VPN technology these phones provide the user with the same experience as a UW phone on campus. Global VoIP phones allow faculty, staff, and researchers to collaborate conveniently and affordably with their colleagues on campus even when they are located across the globe. Available features include:
- UW Long Distance & RCS
- Voice Mail
- 5-Digit Dialing
- Conference
- Transfer
- Call Logging
Calls can be made from the Global VoIP phone to the Greater Seattle Area at no additional per minute charge.

NOTE: Because the Global VoIP phone will be transported outside of Western Washington, the phone set must be purchased.

Telecommuter Requirements
- At least 64kbps download and 64kbps upload bandwidth.
- Local ISP must allow inbound/outbound traffic to TCP port 1443, UDP ports 500 and 4500, and the ESP transport protocol (Protocol 50).
- Available Ethernet outlet within 15 feet of the VoIP Phone.
- Available surge-protected power outlet.
- DHCP or an available Static IP address to be assigned to the VoIP Phone.
