Configure Email and Calendar for Your Smartphone

Cloud Based Email Services (Windows Live, Google)

If you have activated and are using a cloud based services account (Windows Live, Google) for your UW email, then please follow these links to configure your smartphone:

Configuring Deskmail email for Android

  1. From the home screen, tap to open the Applications Tray, and then tap Mail.

  2. Select your email provider. If your provider isn’t listed, select Other (POP3/IMAP).

  3. Enter your UW email address and Password, then tap Next.*

  4. Select POP or IMAP and enter the following Incoming Server Settings:
    - User Name: uwnetid
    - Password: uwnetid_password
    - IMAP server: uwnetid.deskmail.washington.edu
    -
    Security type: SSL
    Then tap Next.*

* If you receive an error message “Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password.” or “Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding”, verify all settings with your email provider including settings for the incoming server and settings to access their outgoing server from other networks.

  1. Enter the Outgoing Server Settings
    - Username: uwnetid
    - Password: uwnetid_password
    - SMTP server: smtp.washington.edu
    -
    Security type: SSL
    Then tap Next.*

Configuring Exchange for Android

  1. From the home screen, tap to open the Applications Tray, and then tap Mail.

  2. Select Microsoft Exchange as email provider.

  3. Enter your UW email address and Password, then tap Next.*

  4. Please Enter the following Settings:
    - Password: uwnetid_password
    - Sever address: exchange.washington.edu
    -
    Domain: netid
    - Username: yournetid
    - Select “This server requires an encrypted SSL connection”
    Then tap Next.*
