Laptop-Friendly Classrooms

UW Tegrity users: Do not use Tegrity to create recordings after December 5, 2014 if you need ongoing access to the recorded content.

The following descriptions are intended to provide information about which UW classrooms are outfitted for easy laptop use as it pertains to instructors planning to capture in-class lectures with Tegrity.

Laptop Friendly Classrooms: Connect to in-room data projectors and P.A. systems

These classrooms are equipped with data projectors or flat-panel displays, and in-room public address (P.A.) systems. Each room provides a VGA cable (and hdmi cable as indicated in the table below) for connecting your laptop to the data projector or flat-panel display, as well as an 1/8th inch audio cable for connecting your laptop to the public address (P.A.) system (audio/video cable adapters not provided).

Laptop D.I.Y. Classrooms Type 1: Connect to in-room data projectors; B.Y.O. microphone

These classrooms are equipped with data projectors and in-room public address (P.A.) systems. Each room provides a VGA cable (and hdmi cable as indicated in the table below) for connecting your laptop to the data projector (video cable adapters not provided) but it is not possible to connect to the room's P.A. system. You will want to use your laptop's built-in microphone, or your laptop with a peripheral microphone, for capturing audio. Please contact UW Tegrity Support for recommendations on peripheral microphones.

Laptop D.I.Y. Classrooms Type 2: Connect to in-room data projectors; B.Y.O. microphone

These classrooms are equipped with data projectors. Each room provides a VGA cable (and hdmi cable as indicated in the table below) for connecting your laptop to the data projector (VGA adapter not provided). You will want to use your laptop's built-in microphone, or your laptop with a peripheral microphone, for capturing audio in this room. Please contact UW Tegrity Support for recommendations on peripheral microphones.

Laptop D.I.Y. Classrooms Type 3: Data projectors by request only; B.Y.O. microphone

Portable data projection carts are available by request only. Each cart comes with a VGA cable (and hdmi cable as indicated in the table below) for connecting your laptop to the data projector (VGA adapter not provided). You will want to use your laptop's built-in microphone, or your laptop with a peripheral microphone, for capturing audio in this room. Please contact UW Tegrity Support for recommendations on peripheral microphones.
