Add a Panopto Recording to Canvas

To add a Panopto recording to Canvas, you can either: (1) embed a video into a Canvas page or (2) insert a link anywhere text can be entered.

We recommend embedding a video into a page. This method provides the best results because it will appear on the Canvas page as a mini-video player with playback controls.

Inserting a link generates a hyperlink that opens an instance of Panopto within the Canvas main window. This second option can create a cumbersome playback experience, because the formatting of the video does not always appear correctly.

To embed a recording into a Canvas page, follow these steps:

  1. StepsActions
  2. From your Panopto home page, locate the video you want to use.
  3. Hover over the video and click Settings.
    My Recording Settings
  4. In the window that opens, in the left sidebar, click Outputs.
    My Recording - Outputs
  5. Scroll down to the Embed field and copy the code there.

  7. Within the Canvas course, select a page or create a new one.
