Change Question Labels and Numbers

WebQ can automatically number the questions on your survey, and you can choose from a variety of numbering schemes, such as roman numerals, letters, and so on. Or, you can choose to create custom labels and numbers for each question.

Change the Automatic Labels and Numbers

To change the automatic question labels and numbers for your survey or quiz, follow these steps:

  1. StepsActions
  2. On the Summary page, click Survey Appearance or Quiz Appearance (found in the "Settings" area in the center right). Or, from the Build page, click Edit Appearance. You will move to the "Edit Appearance" page.
  3. Enter a label in the space provided (such as "Question" or "Part 1"), and then select a number format and punctuation style from the drop-down menus. A preview of your automatic numbering is shown at the right.
  4. Click Save to save your changes and return to the Summary page.

Create Custom Labels and Numbers

Follow these steps to create custom labels for your questions:

  1. StepsActions
  2. On the Summary page, click Survey Appearance or Quiz Appearance (found in the "Settings" area in the center right). Or, from the Build page, click Edit Appearance. You will move to the "Edit Appearance" page.
  3. Click Create custom labels and numbers for each question, and then click Save. Return to the "Build" page to create your custom labels and numbers. Be sure to click Show details to view the fields where you can edit custom labels.
  4. On the Build page, enter the label (e.g. "Question") and number in the "Custom label" space for each question.
