Get Started With Online Grade Submission

An instructor of record for a class or section, or an authorized grade submission delegate, can submit grades to Graduations and Academic Records online with GradePage. Learn more about grade submission delegates.

Online grade submission is available during the quarterly grade submission period.

For existing grade books:

  1. StepsActions
  2. On the account page, click the name of the grade book that you want to work with. You will move to the main view of the grade book.
  3. Information about when the grading period opens and closes is displayed at the top of the page, Online Grade Submissionto the right of the Grade Sheet and Student Info tabs (see image). During the grading period, the link for online grade submission will be active.
  4. Click Online grade submission. You will move to the grade report for the class sections associated with this grade book.
  5. View instructions for how to assign, review, and submit grades.

To create a grade book for the class you want to grade:

  1. StepsActions
  2. Log in to your Catalyst Tools page.
  3. Create a new grade book, being sure to select the class or section for which you want to submit grades.
  4. Information about when the grading period opens and closes is displayed at the top of the page, Online Grade Submissionto the right of the Grade Sheet and Student Info tabs (see image). During the grading period, the link for online grade submission will be active.
  5. Click Online grade submission. You will move to the grade report for the class sections associated with this grade book.
  6. View instructions for how to assign, review, and submit grades.

The Fine Print About Online Grade Submission

Not all instructors of record or grade book administrators can submit final grades. Only those instructors who have permission to grade as determined by the Registrar will be allowed to access online grade submission. For example, when primary grading has been selected for a class, the instructors of record of secondary sections will not be able to access online grade submission. Grade book administrators can view the grade submission form and assign grades, but not submit them.

You can return to the online grade submission form at any point during the grading period to submit grades for other sections or view the status of grades. However, once the grading period closes, you will not be able to access the online grade submission form. The grades you submit are entered in the activity log, and are available to view or print as a receipt. You can always print a copy of the grades you submitted for each section (see View submitted grades).

Grades cannot be changed online. To change or correct a grade, convert an incomplete, X or N to a numeric grade, obtain a Change of Grade form from the following location:

Final grades will not be distributed to students via Catalyst GradeBook.
Final grades will be available to students via MyUW as usual.
