When you do change your password, remember that you will also need to change the password stored within iPad/iPhone Mail. Note that your password is usually stored twice in iPad/iPhone Mail, once for the IMAP (incoming mail) connection and again for the SMTP (outgoing mail) connection. You must change both.

Verify UW (Deskmail) Email Service and Forwarding

service
You can check if it is on by opening the Manage Computing Services page.- If "UW Email Inbox" is listed as an Active Service, continue to step 2.
- If "UW Email Inbox" is listed as an Inactive Service, check the box and click "Subscribe."
- If "UW Email Inbox" is not listed at all (Active or Inactive) then you are not eligible for UW Email so stop here. Most students are not eligible to use UW (Deskmail) Email.
-
Forward your email to UW (Deskmail)
Email
Your can check how your forwarding is set by going to the Manage Email Forwarding page.- If the "Forward to UW Deskmail" option is not already chosen, click that radio button then, "OK"

Configuration Values
Configuring any Email client software for use with the
UW (Deskmail) Email service requires entering a small
number of specific configuration values. For
reference, here's a table of the values needed:
| Name | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Your Email address | Your-UW-NetID@uw.edu | Your official UW address (do use the @uw.edu
form). Replace "Your-UW-NetID" with your own UW NetID. |
| IMAP (incoming) server | Your-UW-NetID.deskmail.washington.edu | Where your mail is stored. Replace "Your-UW-NetID" with your own UW NetID. |
| IMAP server connection | Security (SSL) must be on, use default port 993 | |
| IMAP default path (prefix) | Your folders are stored in the "mail" directory of your account space on the UW server. Not setting this value may make it difficult to find folders you've created with other mail programs, including Alpine and Web Alpine. | |
| SMTP (outgoing) server | smtp.uw.edu | How your mail is sent. |
| SMTP server connection | Security (STARTTLS) must be on, select port 587 | The default port (25) may be blocked by 3rd party
service providers. Using the optional port #587 usually works around that issue. |
