ATC Quickstarts: ClaroRead

ClaroRead provides Text-to-Speech capabilities in nearly any program. The light and simplistic design makes it beneficial for individuals with learning disabilities.

Starting ClaroRead

You can launch ClaroRead with the shortcut key <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<c>, or via the Start menu as follows.

  1. StepsActions
  2. Click the Start Button on the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screem.
  3. Click on "All Programs"
  4. Click on the "Accessible Technology" folder
  5. Click on the ClaroRead

Using ClaroRead

ClaroRead will now speak any text that is highlighted using the mouse.

Once ClaroRead is launched, you may want to check the settings to make sure the speech output is adjusted to your needs. To do this, click on the settings icon on the ClaroRead floating bar. You will will be presented with a variety of options to adjust the speech output. While in settings, you can adjust other things such as the highlighting while reading. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Now, you are ready to use ClaroRead. You can click the start icon, or press < F7 >. If it doesn't start to read, try to highlight the text you want and press start again.
