IMA Pool Hours – Lap Swimming & Diving Well

The IMA Pool was built in 1968. The lap area measures 25 yards long and is divided into four 7’ wide lanes and one 14’ wide lane. The lanes are 4’ deep at the shallow end and 8’ deep at the deep end. There are no starting blocks. There is an attached diving well that is approximately 30’ x 30’ and 12’ feet deep, with one 3 meter variable fulcrum diving board. The water temperature is maintained at 82 degrees.

Revised IMA Pool Hours:

The IMA Pool closes 1 hour earlier than the IMA Building Hours when on revised hours for University Holidays & Breaks. Check the IMA Building hours carefully.

The Pavilion Pool was built in 1938. It is 25 yards (75’) long by six 7’ lanes wide. It has 12’ depth at the starting block end and 4’ depth at the shallow end. The water temperature is maintained at 82 degrees.

General Information

  • You must be a current UW Seattle student or IMA member and must present your UW Husky ID card or IMA Membership card for use.
  • Lockers, locks and towels are available for checkout on a daily basis.
  • Locker room access 15 minutes before the swim starts and up to 30 minutes after swim finishes.
  • Swim aids including noodles, flotation belts, kick boards and pull buoys are available.
  • There is no lap swim during finals week, University breaks, or days with revised IMA Building hours.

Revised Pavilion Pool Hours:

The Pavilion Pool is closed on all University Holidays & Breaks and during Finals Week.

The Pavilion Pool is closed August 19 – September 26, 2017.

Rental Information

  • The IMA Pool is rarely available for rental. Typically the Diving Well is the only part of the IMA Pool available for rental. For more information contact Justin Berry.
  • The Pavilion Pool is available for rental based on quarterly programming schedules. Priority is given to:
    • 1.) RSP Programming
    • 2.) UW Student Groups & ICA
    • 3.) UW Department Groups
    • 4.) Non-UW Groups.
    • NOTE: The Pavilion Pool is closed on all University Holiday & Breaks and during Finals Week. For more information contact Justin Berry.

Rental Request Procedures

UW Student Groups & UW Department Groups

  • Contact Justin Berry with the rental request information: name of group, type of activity, # of participants, date(s), and time(s). An acknowledgement of the request will be emailed within 3 business days, to include any follow-up questions or details and the estimated cost of the rental.
  • Once the rental request has been approved your group will receive an email with the RSP Use Agreement attached. The RSP Use Agreement must be signed by your group and returned.
  • Your rental request will not be confirmed until after your group has signed and returned the RSP Use Agreement.
  • After your rental is completed your group will be invoiced (UW Departments that wish to use a budget # should provide that information before invoicing). Invoice payments are due no less than 30 days from the invoice date.

Non-UW Groups

  • Contact Justin Berry with the rental request information at least two weeks prior to the rental date: name of group, type of activity, # of participants, date(s), and time(s). An acknowledgement of the request will be emailed within 3 business days, to include any follow-up questions or details and the estimated cost of the rental.
  • Pursue Use of University Facilities (UUF) approval by submitting the UUF Request Form. Your request must be approved to rent facility space on campus.
    • Use the following information to complete the UUF Request Form:  Katie Beth (kbeth6@uw.edu) as the UW Sponsor/Authorized Representative and Recreational Sports Programs as the Department/Approving Event.
  • Provide proof of commercial general liability insurance.
    • Events produced by non-University organizations may present a risk of injury to participants or third parties. In such cases, proof of appropriate liability insurance coverage is required prior to approval of the requested use (WAC 478-136-060).
      • Provide limits of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence;
      • List the University of Washington Board of Regents as an “Additional Insured for losses arising from the operations of the Named Insured”;
      • Provide for 45 days’ notice of cancellation; and
      • Be on a form and from a carrier acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.

      In addition, if in the requested use includes participation in athletic events, the policy must include athletic participation. The certificate or attached endorsement must indicate this coverage with limits of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence.

  • Once the rental request has been approved your group will receive an email with the RSP Use Agreement and RSP Waiver Form attached. The RSP Use Agreement must be signed by your group and returned.
  • Your rental request will not be confirmed until after your group has signed and returned the RSP Use Agreement.
  • The RSP Waiver Form or Parental Consent Form must be completed by each participant and turned in prior to your rental, based on the participant list your group provides.
  • Your group will be invoiced prior to your rental. Non-UW Groups must pay estimated invoice amount before the start of the rental. If there is a difference between the estimate and final invoice amount, those fees will be due (or will be refunded) within 30 days of the final invoice date.
