Class Registration Details

Registration Dates

  • Summer Quarter 2019 registration will begin June 17th. Course offerings available to view the week of June 10. Classes begin the week of July 1.
  • We do NOT accept registration over the phone.

Eligibility

Instruction for a variety of activities is offered for a small fee on a non-credit basis to currently-enrolled UW students, faculty/staff, spouses/+1 who possess an IMA Membership. You must purchase an IMA membership prior to registering for a class.  Full-time matriculated students’ IMA memberships are included in their SAF Fees.

*UW Alumni are not eligible.

  • Spouses/+1 members without a UWnetID will need to request a local account username and password prior to registration by emailing normanje@uw.edu.  Please allow for a 72 hours response time. *If you were a former UW Student or faculty/staff member you will use your old UWnetID.

8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (M-F) (Except as noted below)

  • Closed during all University Holidays
  • 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (On IMA Early Close Days)
  • 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (On IMA Late Open Days)
  • No summer extended hours

In-person registration will be taken at the Programs Office desk, 3rd floor IMA. Please bring your Husky card or IMA Membership card and payment (checks, Visa/Mastercard/Discover and Husky Cards).

*The IMA will be going cashless July 1, 2017 (Husky Cards NOW ACCEPTED!).

Tax

Prices include sales tax where applicable. Please note that Washington state sales tax is 10.1%.

Fit for U

FitforU

UW Recreation’s Fit for U gives students, staff, and faculty members an opportunity to create and participate in customizable fitness and/or mindfulness experiences. These uniquely crafted classes and/or workshops are geared to support programming in residence halls, fraternities/sororities, RSO’s, academic classes, departments/offices, and other organized groups.

If you require a space to hold your event checkout info about facility reservation at the IMA or at the HUB. Take note that students and/or student groups receive free space rental at the IMA with their Fit for U request.

Class Cancellations & Refund Policy

Class Schedule changes

UW Recreation’s class schedule is subject to change due to facility availability and enrollment.

  • If your class is cancelled, you will be notified prior to the first class meeting. A full refund will be issued or you have the option to transfer to another class. You will need to come in-person to the Programs Office to process your refund or change classes.
  • If an individual class session needs to be cancelled due to instructor absence, we will make every effort to notify patrons in advance via email. Signs will also posted in the facility. Make-up classes will be held at the end of the quarter during finals week.  Refunds will not be issued for make-up classes held at the end of the quarter during finals week.
  • There are no make-ups or refunds for missed classes due to personal schedule conflicts at any time during the quarter.

Group Classes (except UWild & Golf)

  1. All refunds must be processed in-person in the IMA Programs Office, on the 3rd floor, during office hours prior to the beginning of the second class meeting (unless otherwise noted). A refund will be given, less a 15% service charge. If you paid by credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within approximately four weeks.
  2. For classes that meet fewer than three times, refunds will be granted if processed before the first class meets, during office hours. Refunds for Special Interest classes must be processed by the registration deadline published.
  3. Any refund request after the refund deadline requires the approval of the staff member in charge of the class. You may request a late refund by email at recreg@uw.edu. The following are viable reasons for permitting refunds: Termination of employment or withdrawal from academic classes, and medical request.  Upon approval, a refund will be issued based on the date of emailed request and prorated in accordance with the refund schedule, available at the Programs Office.
  4. A full refund will be issued to participants if a class is cancelled.  All refunds for cancelled classes must be requested and processed within 30 days of class cancellation, they are not issued automatically.
  5. If you purchased a product with your class, that product purchase is non-refundable.
  6. If you wish to switch your registration to a similar class format and price, the refund fee will be waived. ONLY WHEN DONE IN-PERSON. 

UWild Classes

On-Campus Only Activities & Classes:

  1. Drops must be completed at least 48 hours prior to the start time. Failure to do so will result in a 100% loss of the registration fee.
  2. Failure to attend an activity results in a 100% loss of the registration fee.

Off-Campus Activities, Classes, & Trips:

  1. Drops made 8-14 days prior to the activity results in a 50% loss of the registration fee.
  2. Drops made 7 or fewer days prior to the activity results in a 100% loss of the registration fee.
  3. Failure to attend an activity results in a 100% loss of registration fee.

General Info:

  1. Classes meeting for multiple sessions, no refunds are issued after the first session.
  2. For classes that meet indoors prior to an outing, attendance at all indoor classes is mandatory.
  3. For any course that meets for multiple sessions, attendance to the first class is mandatory.
  4. Partial refunds will be given if the outdoor portion of a class is canceled due to weather.
  5. Refunds are only processed in-person at the Climbing Center, Waterfront Activities Center, or the IMA Programs Office, during open hours*. If you paid by credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within approximately four weeks.

Golf Classes

  1. All refunds must be processed in-person at the Golf Range, during open hours, 24 hours prior to the class starting (unless otherwise noted). A refund will be given, less a $8 service charge. If you paid by credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within approximately four weeks.
  2. Any refund request after the refund deadline requires the approval of the staff member in charge of the class. You may request a late refund by email at nappleby@uw.edu. The following are viable reasons for permitting refunds: Termination of employment or withdrawal from academic classes, and medical request.
  3. A full refund will be issued to participants if a class is cancelled.  All refunds for cancelled classes must be requested and processed within 30 days of class cancellation, they are not issued automatically.

Mindfulness Class Pass

  1. Mindfulness Pass refunds require the approval of the Mindfulness Manager.  You may request a refund by email at recreg@uw.edu. The following are viable reasons for permitting refunds: Termination of employment or withdrawal from academic classes, and medical request. A refund will be issued and prorated in accordance with the refund schedule, available at the Programs Office.
  2. All refunds must be processed in-person in the IMA Programs Office, on the 3rd floor, during office hours.  If you paid by credit card or Husky card, you will need to bring your card so that we can credit your account. If you paid by check, we will need to verify your address so a check can be mailed to you within approximately four weeks.
  3. If you purchased a product with your class, that product purchase is non-refundable.

Yoga Mat Purchases

  1. Yoga Mats are Non-refundable.  You must pick-up your yoga mat by the last day of the quarter you purchased it in.  Yoga mats that are not picked up by the end of the quarter will be forfeited.

UW Recreation does not provide accident/medical coverage for participants. It is recommended that participants obtain their own personal coverage. Students may obtain additional information on student accident/sickness insurance by contacting:
