Elissa Washuta received an MFA in creative writing from the UW. Her first book, the memoir MY BODY IS A BOOK OF RULES, will be published by Red Hen Press in 2014. An excerpt appeared in Filter Literary Journal in 2011.

A member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Elissa is an adviser and instructor in UW’s Department of American Indian Studies.
