New Student Convocation

  • Date: Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024
  • Place: Alaska Airlines Arena, Hec Edmundson Pavilion
  • Time: To Be Determined

New Student Convocation is the University’s official welcoming ceremony for entering students, their families and friends. For undergraduates, this event sits in the middle of your day, between your undergraduate Connection Meetings and Husky Kickoff. (See undergraduate student schedule.)

New Student Convocation is one of only two occasions where the University president, the Board of Regents, the deans of the 16 schools and colleges and the faculty gather for an academic ceremony focused on students. The other, of course, is the graduation ceremony, Commencement. These two events are the seminal “bookend” events of a college career.

At New Student Convocation you will:

  • Get to know your classmates from around the world.
  • Get started on the path to academic success.
  • Get tips on navigating student life.
  • Join the Husky community.

Students are welcome to attend in person or view the livestream of the ceremony online, either individually or in small groups at various locations across campus.
