Student Financial Aid

2018-19 Financial Aid Application available October 1, 2017

What you need to know

  1. Submit your FAFSA early:
You can file your 2018-19 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as October 1, 2017, at https://fafsa.gov.
  2. UW’s priority filing date:
The UW’s priority date for filing the FAFSA is January 15, 2018.  Your FAFSA should be received at the federal processor by January 15, 2018, for priority consideration of all of our aid programs.  The federal processor is in the Central Time Zone, so don’t wait until the last minute to apply!
  3. Use the correct income and tax information:
The FAFSA will ask for the last completed tax year – 2016 – for 2018-19.  Whenever possible, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to import your and your parent’s income information directly from the IRS into the FAFSA.  It’s easier to complete the FAFSA this way and results in a more accurate financial aid award.  See more details on how to apply for aid at the UW.
  4. If you missed the priority date:
It is not too late to submit your 2018-19 FAFSA.  If your application is submitted after January 15, 2018, you will still be considered for federal aid, including Pell Grant and student loans.
