2015

iSchool students lend a hand to the Events team

The project focused on the communications and workflow of the Events team, and resulted in several recommendations for improvement.

One UW research lab is studying a simple, low-cost new tool that can help agencies measure where transit trips start and end so they can better and more efficiently serve their passengers. And the researchers are doing it with the help of Transportation Services.

Swerve training for Dream Team

The University of Washington Dream Team is a committed, passionate group of students with a desire to make a difference on educational access in their community. Fleet Services developed a training program for 29 students taking part in the program.

Stuff the Bus

With the help of UW Shuttles, the University of Washington Chi Psi Fraternity collected enough food for more than 20,000 meals at its annual Stuff the Bus food drive in 2015. This was the eighth year that Shuttles has assisted Chi Psi with the annual drive. The event collects food and funds for Food Lifeline, an agency that provides meals for hungry people in Western Washington.

Love Your Stuff

Crime prevention campaign from the University of Washington Police Department
Working closely with Transportation Services Communications, posters, flyers and screen displays depicting people demonstrating affection for their belongings, the campaign aims to remind the UW community to keep its treasured possessions safe, secure and out of sight from potential thieves.

Step Smart

Partnering with the School of Public Health and Harborview Injury and Trauma Prevention Research Center we conducted observations before, during, and after the Step Smart safety campaign to assess its impact and effectiveness. 2013

UW launches commuter calculator

On November 12, 2013, the UW launched a Commuter Calculator—an interactive web-based application that allows commuters to explore how their commute choices affect the cost, CO2 output and calories burned by their commute. Created by UW students, funded by the Campus Sustainability Fund, and supported by UW Transportation Services and the Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability (ESS) office, the site gives commuters a new tool for making commuting choices.
