U-PASS Fees
Waiver of U-PASS Fee
The U-PASS fee is waived for students who purchase quarterly or academic year Single Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) Day Parking Permits or Motorcycle Permits within the first four weeks of an academic quarter or the first three weeks of the summer quarter. The U-PASS waiver is in the form of a credit. The initial U-PASS fee must be paid to avoid incurring late fees or tuition cancellation for non-payment.
An electronic file containing the names and ID numbers of student permit holders (purchasing permits) is sent to the Student Fiscal Services Office on a weekly basis. A credit in the amount equal to the U-Pass fee should appear on the permit holder’s tuition statement approximately 6 weeks after the purchase date. Commuter students may see their credits appear in a slightly shorter time frame.
Please wait at least 6 weeks from your purchase date before contacting Commuter Services to inquire about your waiver.
The U-PASS is for your personal use only; take advantage of its many benefits when it is convenient for you to do so. Simply retain the U-PASS sticker included in your registration packet.
Other Information
For a full explanation of the U-PASS as a student fee, see online Student Guide, “Tuition and Fees”.
Enrolled as a student Fall/Winter/Spring but not Summer quarter? You are not eligible to purchase a student U-PASS for the summer, but may be eligible to purchase a UW FlexPass if you meet the criteria for a UW temporary, hourly employee.
Withdrawal fee: The U-PASS fee for students who withdraw within the first seven calendar days of the quarter is $200. Students owe the $200 fee unless they return their U-PASS to the Student Fiscal Services Office or the ID Center by the tuition due date.
Students who withdraw after the seventh calendar day pay one-half of their tuition and may retain their U-PASS for the fee charged to enrolled students. Alternately, if the student returns their U-PASS by the tuition due date, the U-PASS fee will be cancelled. There are no U-PASS refunds after the tuition payment deadline and no replacements of lost U-PASS stickers for students who have withdrawn.
