What is Ride in the Rain?
Register for the challenge, then on November 1 start tracking the number of one-way bike trips you make between school or work on campus and your home, making special note of when it is raining. Report your ride statistics on a weekly basis during the scheduled reporting periods, using a tracking form for a given week that will only be available during the scheduled Reporting Window for that week. Weekly results will be posted on the website during the week following the Ride Week.
Bike Safety Classes
When it comes to riding in the rain, many cyclists have a healthy fear of falling. Fortunately, you have the power to greatly reduce your risk of falling or crashing. Your crash risk drops significantly with your knowledge and experience, as well as the way you handle yourself on your bike and in traffic. Here’s your chance to top up on all of the above: knowledge, experience, and bike handling.
In this on-the-bike clinic, you will:
- Learn how rain and darkness influence your riding
- Walk through a pre-ride safety check
- Fine-tune your basic bicycle-handling skills: starting/stopping, scanning, rock dodge, and signaling
- Practice crash avoidance techniques and drills
- Review principles of riding in traffic
Please come equipped with your bike, helmet, and weather-appropriate clothing.
Space is limited to 10 people per session so R.S.V.P below if you’d like to attend. Don’t miss this $25 value class, offered for free to Ride in the Rain participants!
